Guineas Sunday is a fantastic day to be shared with family and friends. The highlight of the day will be The QIPCO 1,000 Guineas, the Group 1 fillies Classic for three-year-olds, over a distance of one mile. This epic race is one of only two fillies-only Classics (the other being The Oaks) and will make for a thrilling and memorable day.

There is also a whole host of free activities for everyone to enjoy. There will be no less than two exhibitions for racegoers to explore during the festival. The first is a showcase of some of the best images in the Gods of Sports exhibition, currently at the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing and Sporting Art. The temporary exhibition, located on the lawn in front of the Millennium Grandstand, features some of the most iconic sporting photography from the legendary ex Sunday Times sports photographer, Chris Smith. The second is an exhibition of select pieces from some of the UK’s most exciting sculptors. The Eclipse Lawn will host a stunning collection from a small number of artists, some of whom will be there on the day holding scheduled talks and demonstrations in between the racing.

The Hyperion Lawn, is a great new location for racegoers looking to socialise and meet up with friends. There will be music and live entertainment from a caricaturist during the day plus a fun zone with pony hoppers and a rodeo horse! The Hyperion Lawn will also host the Après Racing after party after the last race. Sunday’s act is yet to be confirmed but if last year’s performances by Radio 2’s Sara Cox and The Wanted’s Tom Parker are anything to go by then it’s going to be an epic party!

For younger racegoers there is the exciting new Pony Club Zone located on the Boulevard Lawn. This area will be packed with fantastic horsey fun for everyone to enjoy throughout the festival. At The Jockey School kids can play with real tack and racing equipment then try on a set of authentic racing silks and learn to ride a race like Frankie Dettori on one of the equicisers, with tuition from one of our expert Jockey Coaches. There will also be Behind the Scenes Tours, an opportunity to meet a real racehorse, see a farriery demonstration, visit the Pony Club Mini Cinema and much more! There will also be pony rides, inflatable slide, bouncy castle, soft play and face painting in the Family Enclosure. Don’t forget that children under 18 are welcome FREE!
