Newmarket Racecourses is pleased to announce that its first fixture of 2017, which takes place on the Rowley Mile Racecourse directly after Easter Weekend between Tuesday, 18th April and Thursday, 20th April, will be known as the bet365 Craven Meeting.
This follows the signing of a three-year sponsorship deal with bet365, the world’s largest online gambling company with over 22 million customers and an Authorised Betting Partner of British Racing, and coincides with the return of terrestrial television coverage to the Craven Meeting, thanks to ITV4, following an 11-year absence.
The bet365 Craven Meeting, often seen as the start of the domestic Flat season, features the Group 3 bet365 Craven Stakes, the course and distance trial for the first Classic of the season, the Group 1 QIPCO 2000 Guineas on 6th May. This prestigious meeting also includes the first three Pattern Races of the turf campaign: the Group 3 bet365 Earl of Sefton Stakes, the Group 3 Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes and the Group 3 Connaught Access Flooring Abernant Stakes.
On top of the bet365 Craven and the bet365 Earl of Sefton, bet365 will be sponsoring a number of other prestigious races over the three days including the Listed Feilden Stakes, the Listed European Free Handicap and the Wood Ditton Stakes.
Amy Starkey, Regional Director, Jockey Club Racecourses East Region, said;
“I am delighted to announce bet365 as the headline sponsor of the Craven Meeting for the next three years.”
“The bet365 Craven Meeting is not only our first fixture of the season, it also signals the start of the real build-up to our QIPCO Guineas Festival with a number of highly significant Classic trials taking place including the bet365 Craven Stakes and the Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes.”
“The town is abuzz with anticipation throughout the week with both sales and racing, with the latter offering racegoers the first chance to see some of the potential 2017 Classic contenders put through their paces.”
“We would like to thank bet365 for their continuous support and we are very much looking forward to working with the team throughout this partnership.”
Steve Ibberson, Managing Director, bet365, said;
“bet365 are thrilled to be supporting the Craven meeting for the next three years, strengthening our already close relationship with Newmarket Racecourses.”
We sponsored the Craven Stakes in 2004 and 2005 and are looking forward to renewing our partnership with the meeting that really launches the flat season. This meeting also combines nicely with our Jump Finale meeting at Sandown the following weekend.”
