Arrival & Departure Timings

Traffic to the site can build up at peak times, and therefore we would advise you arrive early to avoid being delayed.  In addition, especially on Newmarket Nights the traffic exiting the course can escalate, so please do be aware of this when making your travel arrangements.

Due to ongoing Highways England road improvements across the East of England, the A14 will be closed on all Friday's throughout August from 8pm, Junction 36 to Junction 31 westbound, Diversions will be in place via the A11 Southbound and M11 Northbound, or for local routes through Cambridge.

Customers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly.

Several bars remain open for approx. 1 hour (dependent on demand) after the last race on all race days and after the concerts. During the Moet & Chandon July Festival there will be Après Racing after-parties that continue for approx. 1.5 hours post the last race. During our sell out concerts please allow up to 2 hours to exit the car parks. The postcode to the July Course is CB8 0XE

Entering: The July Course

The July Course is situated in rural Cambridgeshire, we are kindly loaned fields for parking belonging to our neighbours, The National Stud, where the likes of Dick Turpin and Toronado have spent many an afternoon grazing. Please note, the route you are manually directed to for The July Course will not be the shortest route, in terms of distance. However it will allow you to approach the racecourse, enter and park in the correct car park in the fastest time possible.

Road closure during Newmarket Nights Craig David (20th July)

The A14 westbound between Six Mile Bottom J36 and Girton J31 will be closed from 9pm. A signed diversion will be in place. Motorway traffic will travel south on the A11, west on the A505 and then north on the M11. Non motorway traffic will diverted on local roads through Cambridge

The A1303 from Cambridge to Newmarket (east bound only) and Swaffham Heath Road that links the A1304 and the A1303 (north bound only) will be closed from 9.00pm - 12:00am on Newmarket Nights (20th July, 10th August, 17th August)

There will be clear diversion routes in place which are as follows:

If you are traveling from Cambridge on the A1303 all traffic during the hours of 6:30pm to 9:00pm will be directed right onto the Swaffham Heath Road, from the junction on the A1303.  Where the Swaffham Heath Road meets the A1304 all traffic will then be directed left towards Newmarket.  Swaffham Road Heath will be closed to any traffic traveling north bound i.e. from Cambridge to Newmarket.

All traffic exiting the Racecourse via Gate 4 (orange, pink and red car parks) onto the A1303 will only be allowed to turn right towards Cambridge.  There will be no access for incoming traffic through these gates half an hour before the last race or 9.00pm for Newmarket Nights and 6:30pm for Summer Saturday Live.

When exiting the car park you will be required to leave via a specific route. To minimise delays and traffic build up, within the racecourse certain gates will be restricted to only allow vehicles to turn left or right.

During our premier racedays, Newmarket Nights and Summer Saturday Live please allow up to 2 hours to exit the car parks.

The taxi rank is located outside Premier 1 entrance, at the front of the white car park. All un-booked taxis must use the taxi rank and will be stopped from picking up from anywhere else on or around the site.

We recommend that taxis are pre-booked in advance of the race meeting especially recommended for our Newmarket Nights and Summer Saturday Live and our feature meetings. See our list of local Newmarket Taxi numbers to help.
