Important Information

Photography Policy

As is standard practice across sports and leisure venues, racecourses seek to protect their image rights in their terms and conditions of entry. These regulations are in place to ensure that any commercial income streams generated, in this case via photography, are protected and available to be reinvested into racing. Whilst racecourses do not wish to dissuade customers from taking pictures of their day out, it is important that this remains on a personal and private level.

If you are wishing to use a “professional” camera (a camera with a substantial detachable lens) on course please visit the Free Pass Office on arrival to obtain a pass. If you are an accredited member of the media, permission must be sought through the Press Office before arrival. Compact digital cameras and mobile phones are not classed as “professional” equipment and are acceptable to use on course. 

Picnic/ Alcohol Policy

Patrons are permitted to bring picnics into the Family Enclosure only. Alcohol can only be brought in with a substantial picnic and it is limited to one bottle of wine or champagne per person or 4 cans of beer, cider or pre-mixed aperitif. Spirits, fortified wines and Pimm's or similar will not be allowed onto the racecourse. Metal and ceramic knives cannot be bought into the racecourse. To avoid them being confiscated and disposed of, please only bring plastic or wooden cutlery. 

Please note: Trackside in the Premier Enclosure is an alcohol free zone.

Garden Furniture Policy

Garden furniture is permitted in the Family Enclosure; however no privately owned furniture is to be brought into the Premier or Grandstand & Paddock Enclosures unless written permission has been issued by the Racecourse Management on medical grounds.

Accessing Enclosures

Your Ticket may restrict access to certain areas of the Racecourse including the various enclosures. Where a Ticket restricts access to some or all enclosures, transfers between enclosures may be possible on a raceday. Transfers will be subject to application at the Upgrade Point. If an enclosure has reached capacity, access will not be permitted to persons without the corresponding enclosure ticket. This also applies to Annual Badge Holders, if the Family Enclosure is sold out no access will be given.

Tout Policy

Any person seen purchasing a ticket from a known ticket tout shall be refused entry as tickets are strictly non-transferable.

Stable Staff

Stable Staff are eligible to free admittance to the racecourse unless they enter the racecourse with an associated runner, stable staff must enter the racecourse via the Free Pass Office.  On Sell Out nights an allocation of  tickets will be allowed for Stable Staff to  book one admission ticket per person on production of a valid Stable Staff Pass free of charge. These are available at 9am the day before the event from the racecourse office at Westfield House on a first come first served basis. Admission on the night will only be through the Free Pass Office, once again with production of a valid Stable Staff Pass and the accompanying named ticket issued the day before.

Disabled Information

Newmarket Racecourses is accessible for disabled customers with ramp access, disabled parking close to the entrance, disabled viewing platforms, disabled toilet facilities, low level service areas in the bars and Food Court and first aid facilities.

·         Lifts accessible to wheelchair users

·         Refreshment areas accessible to wheelchair users

·         To reserve a wheelchair please call our offices on 01638 675500 (Option 4) in advance (limited availability)

·         Guide Dogs, hearing dogs and assistance dogs are all welcome

·         First Aid facilities

A guest with disabilities who is coming racing with an accompanying Personal Assistant will only be charged for a single admission as their Personal Assistant will gain complimentary admission.  Must be pre booked through the Customers Relations Team.

Press Area

The Press Area in Stand 3 is to be used for customers with special dispensation granted by the racecourse management and customers who are registered disabled but not in a wheelchair.  Access to this area must be prearranged with the Customer Relations Team.

Bar Closing Times

On concert days Grandstand & Paddock bars close after racing.  Premier bars close after the concert with Sweet Solera and the Cocktail Paddock remaining open 1 ½ hours after the concert has finished (dependent on demand). Hospitality bars close 45 minutes after concert with 30 minutes drinking up time. 

On normal racedays Grandstand & Paddock bars close 30 minutes after racing, Premier bars close 45 minutes after the last race and Hospitality closes 45 minutes after last race with 15 minutes drinking up time.  

Return Policy

Newmarket Racecourses does not offer refunds or exchanges once you have purchased tickets. 

Abandonment Policy

In the event of abandonment, refunds on badges or tickets purchased will only be paid in the following circumstances:

Racing Only:

Abandonment before completion of the first race – a full refund will be given
Abandonment before completion of the third or feature race, whichever is later – a 50% refund will be given
Abandonment thereafter – no refund will be given

Racing & Concert:

Abandonment before completion of the first race – a full refund will be given
Abandonment following racing but prior to the commencement of the concert – a 50% refund will be given
Abandonment thereafter – no refund will be given

No refunds can be issued on the day. To obtain a refund racegoers should follow the procedure below:

If tickets, badges or car park labels were purchased in advance via the ticket hotline (0844 579 3008), internet or post, an automatic refund will be made to the original payment method.
If tickets, badges or car park labels were purchased on site at Newmarket Racecourses, either in advance or on the day, they should be sent to the address below, together with full customer contacts details within 28 days of the date of the event. A refund will then be processed and returned to the customer accordingly.


In the event of:

(i) any change of supporting acts; 


(ii) any change to the constituent members of a band

the concert will not be abandoned and the customer will not be entitled to a refund, in the option of JCR, the event is deemed to be materially altered.

Awnings, Gazebo policy

Unbranded awnings, gazebos are permitted to be used in the car parks however the area for use is limited to your car parking space.  Unattended awnings or gazebos will be disposed of if they are deemed unsafe.

Unbranded awnings, gazebos may be used in the Family Enclosure however they must be positioned well back from the running rail and tethered down securely.   The racecourse reserves the right to request gazebos to be taken down if they pose a safety threat. 

Bookmakers Terms of Entry

From 1 September 2017 there will be a change paragraph 2.3 of Special Conditions E of Racecourse Terms and Conditions of Entry to clarify that metal admittance badges cannot be used by Bookmakers of their Staff to obtain a reduction in admission fees. Please see full and updated terms of entry here.
